Being homosexual in the world

Russia’s threats to arrest gay athletes at the Olympic games and the laws in Uganda and Nigeria tend to dominate the gay rights news at least in the mainstream press. However, there are many cou9nties where the simple fact of non-heterosexual sexual orientation can be prosecuted.

CBC news has a world map showing the status of these laws.

in 70 plus nations around the world individuals who belong to any of these groups can still be punished and prosecuted as result of their sexual orientation.

In seven of these countries, same sex acts are punishable by death.

The fight goes on.
