Living by Statistics

Back in 2011, Rob Nicholson, Canada’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, stated that the Canadian government does not govern based upon statistics.  My post yesterday outlined how this government is working hard to ensure that there will not be statistics that could be used to criticize their policies and actions. These are techniques used by many governments to gain public acceptance for  restrictive and intrusive laws and policies.

Of course, the media is complicit in misleading the populace into being afraid of the things they have no need to be afraid of, and comfortable with things they should be concerned about.

Even a rudimentary knowledge of statistics can make us aware of the costs of these actions, and be skeptical of the actions of governments.
