On the same page, the book credits the tastiness of meat by saying that “it is the waste products which largely produce the flavour of meat”.
The book also comments on the longevity and healthfulness of the Japanese
“They are vegetarians and live longer than most other peoples. The generous use of green leafy vegetables, soya beans and grams has helped the people to maintain vigour, strength and endurance throughout the centuries”, the book says; there is no mention of the fish in Japanese diet.
The book even has some advice for young women.

Of course, that last could be found in any religious text.
There is a push in India to change the way textbooks are chosen in schools. Currently, books are often chosen by publisher and the content is not monitored by the Central Board of Education. many think this should change.
There are some areas, education being one, where centralization, although not politicization, is important.
