Daniel Dennett defines Deepity

Daniel Dennett, philosopher and outspoken atheist, is one of the founders of The Clergy Project. The Clergy Project is a 200+ member (and growing) forum of clergy who have become atheists.

Here is a talk he gave at the Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne, Australia. In the talk he elaborates on the Clergy Project, and along the way he takes a page from Jeff Foxworthy’s book and describes the situations where “You might be an atheist if…”. He also describes a new word “deepity” a phrase that is seemingly deep, and simultaneously¬† false.

Here is his talk in its entirety.
