Smart Cephalopod

While it is highly likely that the self-portrait creating Kraken imagined by McMenaminhas ever existed, cephalopods are extremely intelligent creatures. They can plan ahead, carrying coconut shells to use as armour. Paul predicted the outcome of several world cup games, although he died shortly thereafter (more a sign of gullibility of humans rather than Paul’s intelligence )

The latest trick caught on camera is an octopus opening a jar to get to a tasty looking crab.

One of the more amazing things about the intelligence of these creatures is their relatively short lifespans. The Common Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) lives for 12-15 months and the Giant Pacific Octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini) for 4 years.
